Job description
Overview
Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey U.P. Sainik School, a CBSE school in Lucknow, is hiring a Food Incharge.
Key responsibilities:
- Ensure smooth functioning of assigned facilities/equipment
- Coordinate with vendors and support staff
- Follow safety and security protocols at all times
- Report issues to the maintenance head promptly
Requirements:
- 5-12 years of relevant experience
- Relevant ITI/diploma/certification; school or institutional experience preferred
About the school:
It was on 15th July 1960, the seeds of U.P. Sainik School were sown in the rural setting of Sarojini Nagar, some 15 km away from the State Capital, Lucknow. As a special institution and the first of its kind, the idea of U.P. Sainik School was conceived by Dr. Sampurnanand, a veteran freedom fighter, an astute politician and a man of letters. He could see that the most populous State of the Union had a very thin representation in the officers cadre of the Armed forces. The UP Sainik School was set up to provide highly subsidized quality education to selected students with the help of military officers and to make it functional as a nursery and feeder institution for the N.D.A.
Common questions about this role
How long does it take to hear back after applying?
Most schools review applications within 5–10 working days. If you don't hear back in two weeks, the role has usually been filled or paused — keep applying to similar openings in the meantime.
When are increments and bonuses given?
Annual increments are usually announced in March/April, alongside the new academic year. Performance-linked bonuses vary by school — some pay a one-month festive bonus, others none.
Is school transport available for staff?
Staff transport varies. Larger schools with their own fleet usually allow staff onboarding on existing routes; smaller schools may not run dedicated routes.
Is accommodation provided?
Boarding schools usually offer on-campus accommodation (free or subsidised), often with meals. This is confirmed in the offer letter along with any allied duties.
I'm serving notice — should I still apply?
Yes. Most schools accept candidates with up to 60 days of notice. Mention your last working day clearly in your application so the school can plan the joining accordingly.
