Role: Headmistress

We are hiring an experienced Headmistress to join our team for the upcoming academic session. The successful candidate will plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the ICSE curriculum, mentor students, and contribute to the wider life of the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver lessons that meet curriculum standards and engage every learner
  • Assess, record and report on student progress using both formative and summative tools
  • Create a safe, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents and school leadership
  • Participate in CCAs, parent–teacher meetings and professional-development sessions

Qualifications

  • Post-graduate / graduate degree in the relevant subject
  • B.Ed. (or equivalent teaching qualification) preferred
  • Prior teaching experience in a reputable school
  • Strong communication and classroom-management skills
  • Comfortable with digital teaching tools and smart classrooms

<p>The Elias Meyer Free School Talmud and Torah, which is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, Delhi (ICSE) and the Indian School Certificate Examination Delhi (ISC). The medium of Instruction is English, originally established as a Jewish Boys and Girls school in 1881, holds a significant place in Kolkata's educational history. Over the years, it underwent several transformations, culminating in its leadership under Elias Meyer and Mr. Arakie in 1909. Under their guidance, the school experienced remarkable growth, supported by a thriving student population. Following Meyer's passing, his widow ensured the school's continuity by establishing a trust fund, leading to its renaming as The Elias Meyer Boy's School and Talmud Torah.</p>
