Job description

Overview

We are looking for a Vice Principal to join Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Tirap, Arunachal Pradesh. You will work alongside an experienced team that takes student outcomes seriously. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, established 1998, is a senior secondary campus in Tirap, Arunachal Pradesh — a CBSE-affiliated school. Day-to-day work is anchored in curriculum maps, defined assessment cycles, and faculty review built into the calendar. Role: as Vice Principal, you work closely with the Principal on academic and operational decisions — leading a section/team, driving teacher development, overseeing assessments, and holding the line on standards. Core responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire a high-performing academic team.
  • Maintain standards through reviews, observations, and structured feedback.
  • Drive the assessment, reporting, and parent communication cycle.
  • Manage disciplinary cases, parent escalations, and staff conflicts.
  • Contribute to the school's strategic priorities as part of the leadership group. Ideal candidate — you have:
  • 8+ years in school education with leadership exposure.
  • Direct experience running a section, department, or full school.
  • A point of view on good teaching, good assessments, and good schools.
  • Patience to coach and firmness to enforce standards.
  • Strong personal organisation across multiple workstreams. Compensation and environment:
  • Salary structured fairly across roles (₹7.4 LPA – ₹18.6 LPA).
  • A calendar that respects academic delivery and personal time.
  • Internal training, peer observation, and external workshops.
  • A calm, professional, student-centred campus culture.
  • Real backing from the leadership team when it matters. Hit Apply on this page to put your CV in front of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya academic lead. Selected profiles progress to a model class and a conversation with leadership.

Common questions about this role

How long after the interview until I get an offer letter?

Typically 3–7 working days after the final interview, once reference checks and internal approvals are done. Verbal confirmations sometimes come sooner — always wait for the written offer before resigning your current role.

Is background verification done before joining?

Yes — most schools run document and reference verification, and many use third-party background checks. Keep your last 2–3 employer references and original certificates ready.

What is the average Vice Principal salary in Tirap?

Refer to the on-page "Salary snapshot" for the current market band. Broadly, Vice Principal pay in Tirap varies with years of experience (each 3-year block adds roughly 15-25%), board (IB > CBSE > state), and school size — the linked full pay report breaks these out further.

How long does it take to hear back after applying?

Response times vary, but shortlisted candidates are typically contacted within a week. You'll get a notification on School Jobs India the moment the school updates your application status.

Which curriculum does the school follow?

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya follows the CBSE curriculum, so teaching, assessment and reporting align to that framework.

I'm serving notice — should I still apply?

Yes. Most schools accept candidates with up to 60 days of notice. Mention your last working day clearly in your application so the school can plan the joining accordingly.

What qualifications are required for a Vice Principal?

Most Vice Principal roles require a relevant Bachelor's/Master's in the subject plus a B.Ed (or equivalent teacher-training qualification). Specific board requirements (CTET, IB workshops, IGCSE training) may also apply.

When does the school want the joining date to be?

Joining dates are usually negotiable around the school calendar. Mid-term joining is common for replacement vacancies; new positions often align to April or the start of the next term.

Can I negotiate the salary at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya?

Yes — the band shown is a starting point. Schools consider your last-drawn CTC, teaching experience, board expertise (CBSE) and any specialist skills. Come prepared with a specific number and a 1-line justification.

Does Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya help with relocation from another city?

Many CBSE, ICSE and IB schools in Tirap offer on-campus or subsidised accommodation, one-time relocation reimbursement, or help finding rentals nearby. Ask about "relocation assistance" and "staff quarters" in the interview — it's a common ask.
