Lewis English School was established in the year 1975. It is run by a registered educational society. It was the first English medium school in Mirik valley. The aim and objective of the school was to educate the boys and girls in English medium and to prepare them for for their future life and to become good and an aware citizens of the country. With this aim the school was upgraded every year and became a full fledged high school in the year 1985. It was recognized by the government of West Bengal and was affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, (ICSE), New Delhi in the year 1986. In the history of Mirik,Lewis English School became the first and only ICSE school. The school has been producing very good results in the ICSE examination every year. The products of Lewis English School are found in many parts of the coubtry and in foreign countries as well.
