How many times is the CTET exam conducted in a year?

CTET is held twice a year — typically once between July and August and again between December and January.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts CTET twice every calendar year in offline mode across 130+ cities in India.

  • Summer cycle: July–August notification, exam usually in the last week of July.
  • Winter cycle: October–November notification, exam usually in December.

From 2023 onwards CTET has stabilised to a June/July + December/January pattern. Candidates can appear in both cycles and there is no cap on the number of attempts. The best score is treated as valid, and the certificate is issued for life.
