How do I become a CBSE school teacher in India?

Complete graduation in your subject, earn a B.Ed, clear CTET (mandatory for government CBSE schools), then apply through school career pages or SchoolJobsIndia.

Becoming a CBSE teacher

  1. Graduation in the subject you want to teach (Master's if targeting PGT).
  2. B.Ed from an NCTE-recognised institute (2 years) or an integrated 4-year B.A.Ed / B.Sc.Ed.
  3. CTET or state TET — mandatory for KVS, NVS, Sainik Schools and most government CBSE affiliates; strongly preferred by top private CBSE schools.
  4. Optional but valuable: NET (for higher-secondary), a Cambridge / IB certificate for international schools.
  5. Apply directly through the school's careers page or through job boards like SchoolJobsIndia.

Most private CBSE schools also expect a demo class and a subject test as part of interviews.
