How do I write a job application letter for a teaching post?

Address it to the Principal, state the exact post and reference number, summarise qualifications and CTET/TET, quote 2 achievements with numbers, and close with availability for a demo.

Use a formal 1-page block-format letter (single-spaced, 11–12 pt).

Structure:

  1. Sender block: your name, phone, email (top left).
  2. Date + recipient block: Principal, School Name, City, PIN.
  3. Subject: Application for the post of TGT Mathematics — Ref. Advt. No. XX/2026.
  4. Salutation: Respected Sir/Madam,
  5. Opening paragraph: where you saw the vacancy + the exact post applied for.
  6. Body paragraph 1: qualifications — B.Sc, B.Ed, CTET Paper II score, teaching experience in one line.
  7. Body paragraph 2: 2 concrete achievements with numbers (board result improvement, competition wins, curriculum work).
  8. Body paragraph 3: why this school (mission alignment, board specialisation).
  9. Closing: availability for a demo class, contact number, attached CV and CTET certificate.
  10. Sign-off: Yours sincerely, + name.

Keep it under 300 words. Avoid clichés like "kindly consider" — replace with "I look forward to demonstrating my approach in a demo class."
