How do I write a joining letter after being selected as a teacher?

Address the Principal, reference the appointment letter number and date, state your joining date, submit required documents, and request a copy of the counter-signed letter.

A joining letter is a short 1-paragraph formal note. Sample structure:

To,
The Principal
[School Name], [City]

Subject: Reporting for duty against Appointment Letter No. [XXX] dated [DD-MM-YYYY].

Respected Sir/Madam,

With reference to the appointment letter cited above, I, [Full Name], am reporting for duty as [Post — e.g., TGT English] at [School Name] with effect from [Joining Date], forenoon. I have submitted my original documents (marksheets, B.Ed certificate, CTET certificate, ID proof, address proof and 4 passport photographs) to the office for verification.

Kindly acknowledge receipt of this letter and provide a counter-signed copy for my records.

Yours sincerely,
[Signature]
[Name, Contact, Employee ID if allotted]

Keep 2 photocopies — one for the school office, one for your file. Ask HR for a Joining Report / Charge Report stamp on the same date.
