About the school: The story of the Taraben Master School starts almost six decades ago in April 1953 with the establishment of a nursery school in Santacruz, then a lovely green and sparsely populated suburb. The nursery soon grew to over 300 children and in response to the ever growing community needs, primary and secondary sections were added, first in Gujarati and then in English. By 1972 plans were implemented to initiate the construction of a new school building, on land leased by the government of Maharashtra. 1975 saw the completion of the project with a brand new school building and sports ground, with great help from public and business contributions. The various levels of the school* have been consolidated under the Public Charitable Trust known as the Santacruz West Education Society (SWES).
Common questions about this role
Is background verification done before joining?
Yes — most schools run document and reference verification, and many use third-party background checks. Keep your last 2–3 employer references and original certificates ready.
What does a typical day look like?
Most teachers handle 4–6 instructional periods a day, with the rest going to lesson planning, assessment correction, and a co-curricular duty.
What non-teaching duties are expected?
Common non-teaching duties include exam invigilation, homework correction, parent-teacher meetings, one co-curricular activity, and being a homeroom/tutor-group mentor.
What is the leave policy?
Teaching staff typically get all school holidays plus 8–15 casual/sick leaves per academic year. Long vacations (summer, winter, Diwali, Holi breaks) follow the published school calendar.
Are meals provided at school?
Most schools offer a subsidised staff canteen or a daily mid-morning snack and lunch. Boarding schools typically include all meals for residential staff.
