About Taraben Master School
The story of the Taraben Master School starts almost six decades ago in April 1953 with the establishment of a nursery school in Santacruz, then a lovely green and sparsely populated suburb. The nursery soon grew to over 300 children and in response to the ever growing community needs, primary and secondary sections were added, first in Gujarati and then in English. By 1972 plans were implemented to initiate the construction of a new school building, on land leased by the government of Maharashtra. 1975 saw the completion of the project with a brand new school building and sports ground, with great help from public and business contributions. The various levels of the school* have been consolidated under the Public Charitable Trust known as the Santacruz West Education Society (SWES).
