Can I do B.Ed directly after 12th in India?
Not through a standalone B.Ed. However, you can join the 4-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) right after 12th — recognised by NCTE.
A traditional B.Ed is a 2-year post-graduate programme that requires graduation with at least 50% marks. You cannot join it straight after 12th.
After 12th you can:
- Enrol in the 4-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) launched under NEP 2020, offered by IITs, RIEs and central universities. ITEP replaces the sequential BA/B.Sc + B.Ed route with a single dual-degree.
- Join a 2-year D.El.Ed to teach at primary level.
- Complete BA/B.Sc/B.Com first and then pursue a 2-year B.Ed.
ITEP graduates are directly eligible for CTET Paper I and Paper II, making it the fastest post-12th path to a full teaching career.
