Is there negative marking in the CTET exam?
No. CTET has no negative marking — each correct answer scores 1 mark and wrong or unattempted questions score zero.
CTET follows a straightforward scoring rule set by CBSE:
- 1 mark for each correct MCQ answer.
- 0 marks for wrong or unattempted questions — there is no negative marking.
- Each paper has 150 MCQs to be attempted in 150 minutes.
- Qualifying cut-off is 60% (90/150) for general and 55% for reserved categories.
Because there is no penalty, candidates are advised to attempt every question. Marks and certificates are issued centrally by CBSE; the certificate is now valid for a lifetime.
