What is the CTET syllabus for Paper I and Paper II?

Both papers cover Child Development & Pedagogy, Language I, Language II. Paper I adds Maths and EVS; Paper II adds Maths & Science OR Social Studies.

CTET syllabus is published by CBSE and mirrors the NCERT curriculum for the relevant class range.

Paper I (Classes I–V) — 150 marks:

  • Child Development & Pedagogy (30)
  • Language I (30)
  • Language II (30)
  • Mathematics (30)
  • Environmental Studies (30)

Paper II (Classes VI–VIII) — 150 marks:

  • Child Development & Pedagogy (30)
  • Language I (30)
  • Language II (30)
  • Either Mathematics & Science (60) — for maths/science teachers, or Social Studies/Social Science (60) — for arts teachers.

Study resources: NCERT textbooks (Classes I–VIII), NCF 2005, RTE Act, and previous years' CTET papers. Pedagogy sections are the differentiator — practice inclusive-education, assessment-for-learning, and Piaget/Vygotsky/Bruner concepts.
