What is NVS teacher recruitment and how does it differ from KVS?
NVS (Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti) runs Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas — residential CBSE schools for rural talented students, one per district. NVS recruitment is separate from KVS: candidates need CTET, subject qualifications, and must be willing to work in a residential setting. Pay scales are similar to KVS but come with free residential accommodation.
NVS is a fully residential system serving rural gifted students.
Structure
- 661+ Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas across India.
- Classes 6–12, English/Hindi mixed medium (regional language up to Class 8).
- Fully residential — teachers live on campus with families.
Eligibility (same NCTE norms as KVS)
- PGT: Master's + B.Ed + CTET (where required).
- TGT: Graduation in subject + B.Ed + CTET Paper II.
- Miscellaneous Category: PET, Music Teacher, Art Teacher, Librarian.
Key differences from KVS
- Residential requirement: You must live on campus. Family accommodation is provided but limited.
- Rural posting: Postings are in tehsils/blocks, not big cities.
- Working hours: Longer — hostel supervision duties on rotation.
- Perks: Free accommodation, subsidised food, close-knit community.
