How do I get a teaching job in Kendriya Vidyalaya (KVS)?

Clear CTET, wait for the KVS recruitment notification (PRT, TGT, PGT), pass the CBT and interview. Selection is on merit + interview marks.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) hires teachers through nationwide CBT-based recruitment drives roughly every 2–3 years.

Post-wise minimum qualifications:

  • PRT (Primary): 10+2 + 2-year D.El.Ed + CTET Paper I. Age limit: 30.
  • TGT (Classes VI–X): Graduation with 50% + B.Ed + CTET Paper II. Age limit: 35.
  • PGT (Classes XI–XII): PG in subject with 50% + B.Ed. Age limit: 40.

Selection process:

  1. Online CBT (150 questions, 2.5 hours).
  2. Skill test / demo teaching for shortlisted candidates.
  3. Interview (12 marks) + CBT (150 marks) — total 162.

Pay: Level 6–8 of 7th CPC, starting ~₹35,400 basic + DA + HRA. Total in-hand ₹55,000–₹80,000 depending on city HRA.

Check kvsangathan.nic.in for the latest notification. Between drives, KVS also hires contractual teachers at the KV level — apply directly at the nearest KV.
